Privacy & student data
Effective August 2026. Operated by InstructEtools.
Student accounts
Student accounts are not linked to an email address, phone number or other contact information. Students sign in with a class join code and their own PIN. Only the teacher knows which hero belongs to which student.
What we do not collect
We do not knowingly collect student full legal names, home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, photographs, birthdates, government identifiers, grades, health information, biometric data, or behavioral records tied to a real, identifiable student.
The only free text a student can type is their hero's name, which is filtered and can be reviewed and changed by the teacher.
How information is used
Information is used only to run the app: signing in, saving class and hero progress, support and security. We do not sell personal information, do not show ads, and do not build advertising profiles of students.
Sharing
Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the app (hosting, database and payment processing), and only as required to deliver the service or comply with the law.
Deleting data
Teachers can remove students, delete a class or delete their account at any time from Settings. This removes the related hero and progress records. Backups may remain for a limited time before being overwritten.
Schools, FERPA and COPPA
The app is designed to be used by a teacher or school in an educational role, with pseudonymous student accounts. Where school or district policy, COPPA, FERPA or state student-privacy law requires parent notice or consent, the teacher and school are responsible for it. We will provide a data processing agreement (DPA) for review on request.
Security
We use access controls on stored data and limit repeated student login attempts. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
